John Deere 220SL meets Trans pro 80

I'm not one for change or surprises.

Especially 2 days before opening!

This is what I came up with to make it Work for the guy/gals and this course.

What they do with 4 useless to me trailers are another issue that I'm not dealing with.

Hopefully they can be returned.

Yeah, new equipment arrived and in the same breath what the $%^& are those sitting in!
Apparently, JD doesn't have single pull trailer so they decided to buy 4 double trailers to run singles in each? Not enough shop space for that here.
We run only single trailers here. 3-4 staffers mow all tees and collars with them.
Double trailers make no sense.

They also don't sell a pin option

Like this once you put a chain on the pin your good to go years of maintenance free use.

I've been on the crew and experienced mowing. I see so many issues for the guys/gals with loading and unloading.

Brush kit drive side doesn't move. Green Diamond came out and addressed it right away.

I can see these bars that hold mowers down disappearing within the first few mows.
Note to engineers If it's not easy it will not be used for intendent use.

??????????????

Having a wheel good time lol

kept my trailers, sent one out on trade.Hopefully we can get it back.

Mocking up a fit on the trans pro-80
The best SINGLE pull trailer..

No holes will line up to get the width needed for mower.

After a bit of cleaning up

It's time to weld them solid, making the wheels track better. The rear wheel tab I slightly bent straighter to hold wheels.

Done looks great.
I might paint them green and put JD stickers on them.

Stuck with 4 trailers .

Anyone looking for this type of trailer in the maritimes gives us a call . Let’s make a Deal lol

Toro 5800 starter replacement (aftermarket)

Sticker price on this item is a bit much 1009.98

toro part #98-9705

Sometimes you just shop around and find it on Amazon .

OEM starter is having issues.

Randomly would not work ( ussually when I'm off site )

I did try bnew brushes and issue remained.

It would just click and after clicking ignition for up to 40mtimes it would get by the dead spot and work fine for a day or many weeks.

Always start your sprayer before loading it up $$$$$$.

Just look up the # on the starter.

Amazon find 153.87 Canadian dollars and delivered in a few days.

Not going to get into much detail on replacing. Remove nuts and bolts from starter side of shield gives you lots of access.

Same starter just aftermarket.
Did not have to mess with wiring.
Wired up same as OEM.

Old OEM starter.
Now will wait and see if issue went away.
If it starts when I'm not around then I'll now it's good lol.

Whipper snipper rack update 1.1

 https://golfcoursemechanics.blogspot.com/2015/05/string-trimmer-shop-rack.html?m=1

Stihl is coming out with more and more 4 cycle mixed gas engines . I’ve been finding that quite a few leak out the carb when stored upright in equipment room.Even after rebuilding a carb and replacing the vent on one of them it Stihl leaked.

Last week tweaking the rack to have them laying horizontal has so far worked.

The dreaded bent shaft snipper. No idea where it came from but there is a couple of staff that like it ????? So I just keep repairing and servicing the unit.

Updates On Small Engine servicing

Bobs Shop: Small Engine Maintenance . (golfcoursemechanics.blogspot.com)

Above link is from 2012.

Winter work is winding down and while waiting on parts I'm starting the small engine service.

Adding on a few things I'm doing different this season.

Using the BG 50 Stihl Blower for and  example.

Starting off with dumping old fuel out first, changed the fuel filter then refill with fresh fuel.

I'll prime the bulb quite a few times to get fresh fuel in the carb to soften up the diaphrams etc. while I service the rest of the unit .

Stihl oil has treatment in it for storage. Also stihl 2 cycle oil likes to carbon up engines too.

After the fuel I'll check and or replace air filter. Check and or replace plug, but before installing plug I'll put the piston in top dead center and add seafoam to loosen up any carbon on piston.

Next the muffler comes off.

No surprise here. I can tell it's carboned up.

Exhaust port was pretty clean so tipping engine back I'll let this stuff soak in the port . Pistons all the way up blocking port off from cylinder.

Like this.

Easiest way I found to put the hand blower exhaust back on .

Double check exhaust gasket stayed in place too.

Video burning and drying out carbon.

Ya there id lots left inside.

After install I adjusted the highspeed jet (closest to air filter) till you get max revs .
Low speed let idle and adjust till you here it bog .Turn in or out to hear it run smooth and when you hear it back out till it just barely starts to bog and leave it . You’re done unless the idle need turning up .

John Deere 5055E cut edge replacement on loader attachment

It's time . cutting edge is worn back pretty far.

I did do some repairs to it a few years back .

Starting to peel up on the ends.

If you don't have a plasma cutter,  nows the time to get one.
My amazon find will cut 1/4" .
Was just good enough and made quick work cutting the front worn section off .

Using a piece of scrape metal to cut a straight line the best I could.

Leaving old cutting edge on and stacking new one.

Not to bad.

Prepping the new one for welding. It does have to bolt holes if yours came with that type .
Part # W4986

Good use of my tripod stands.
Getting it lined up and tack weld  few spots to hold it in place .
You will need clamps to hold it together .

Center blade so its even on the ends or sticking out the same amount.

I just filled welded the missing ares on sides.

Laugh if you will at the welds ,but it's not coming off ever lol.

Chain hook welded on.
Will hopefully keep them from wrapping it around the bucket.

I just filled welded a slope. Would have been quicker and easier to weld a piece of flat bar in place.

Turned out great.

I just need to build up the skid bars on bottom of bucket before it goes back out .
